  SOURCES

How does Family Tree Legends deal with Sources?

Family Tree Legends provides you a means to document all sources that you use in your family history. The Source feature works accordingly:

  • A Citation is a specific part of a larger resource (e.g., an excerpt from a book)
  • A Source is a larger resource (e.g., a book)
  • A Repository is where a larger resource might be located such as a library.

How do I add a new source?

Navigate to the Facts page for an individual, click the blank area in the “S” column for a given Fact. A new window will appear allowing to enter a Citation, Source, and Repository relating to the fact.

How do I manage my sources?

Choose “VIEW > SOURCES”. A new window will appear allowing to Edit, Delete, Replace, and view the Usage of all of the sources that appear in your file.

How do I mark a specific source item as “private”?

Navigate to the homepage of an existing individual in your file, and click on the “Notes” icon on the right-hand side of your screen.
