How do I add a fact to an existing individual in my file?

Navigate to the homepage of an existing individual in your file, and click on the “Facts” icon on the right-hand side of your screen. Next, click the “Add Fact” button at the top of the page. Use the “Type” drop-down menu to choose the appropriate fact type.




How do I add a family and/or marriage fact to a couple in my file?

Navigate to the homepage of the desired couple or family, and click on the small “Facts” icon located just to the right of the Marriage fields in the data entry form.




Is there a limit to the number of facts that I can enter for an individual?

No, there is no limit to the number of facts that you can enter for a given individual in your file.




How do I mark a specific fact as “private”?

Double click on a fact to open the Fact Details window. At the bottom of the window, there is a checkbox labeled “This fact is private”. Place a check in the box to enable privacy features for the selected fact.




How do I define and display a Divorce?

Set up the family as though they are currently married (including any children that resulted from this marriage). Then select the marriage field and click on the "facts" button (to the right of marriage fields). A new window will open titled "Facts for marriage of...” select the little blue fact icon in far left column. This will open a dialogue box with a pull down menu where you can change the event to a divorce.

To add a new spouse (re-marriage) select the remarried individual and choose EDIT > ADD SPOUSE. Children from other marriages will not be displayed on the re-married family page.

If you would like to display divorce as a fact in your chart, first generate your chart. Next, select "Options" tab, and in the "Facts" drop down menu choose "Include Divorce". This should display divorce as fact beneath the spouse that was divorced.




I have 2 individuals in my file that are not married but had a child together. I don't want their labels to be displayed as "husband" and "wife". How do I change the relationship type between these 2 individuals?

Set up the family as though they are married. Click on the small "Facts" button (to the right of marriage fields). A new window will open titled "Facts for marriage of X and Y". In the bottom left hand corner of the screen is a pull down menu titled "Type of Relationship" where you can change the relationship to "Friends", "Partners", "Associates", etc.




How do I define an Adoption?

On the family’s home page page, select the child's name, and click on the "Facts" icon, and select "Relationship to Father/Mother" and set it to "Adopted". The individual's relationship to his/her parents will be officially set to "Adopted".
